Are You Mentally Tough Enough?

Mental Toughness or self control is one of the most important attributes any human being can have. The mind is fragile and vulnerable to attack from all angles whether it be in your personal life, business dealings or even efforts to build a better body.

Having a strong mind in the way of self control will allow you to take better control over your emotions and behaviour especially under stress. As a result you are less likely to give in to temptation and make poor decisions.

Like any skill in life, if you want to develop, you must train it. Real life experiences present the perfect opportunity to do just that.

I’ve developed 5 personal ground rules when it comes to strengthening my mindset. I hope you find these useful..

1) Stop Feeling Sorry For Yourself.

Complaining never makes the situation better.

Understand things go wrong from time to time, people aren’t going to treat you equally, and that you will experience conflict once in a while.

Rather than dwelling on the negative, focus your efforts on what you want to happen and what your going to do about it.

2) Accept There Is Only One Thing Permanent In Life Besides Death: Change…

With your competition getting bigger, stronger, faster and smarter. Change should motivate you to learn more and re-evaluate your current approach. This is essential in helping you develop a better version of your original self.

3) Don’t Be Afraid To Say No.

We are all guilty of agreeing to things in an attempt to keep people happy.

Saying yes all the time provides short term appraisal yet long term stress. Saying no causes short stress pain yet long term satisfaction.

Which do you want? The worst thing you can do is try to please everyone…

4) Don’t Let Other People Have Power Over You.

In your quest to be successful many will make fun, doubt you and talk behind your back.

Be rest assured jealousy is an awful disease…

The key to success is focusing your conscious mind on the things you desire not fear especially when it comes to what others think of you.

Its easy to get caught up and annoyed with whats been said or heard, but the reality is you can either sit and dwell and let someone else take your dream or soar through the noise and keep your eyes on who, what and where you want to be.

5)Don’t Focus On The Things You Can’t Control.

Why waste time?

When there is nothing you can do, all you have to do is accept whats happened and move on or work around it the best you can – period!

Dwell on something out of your control and expect to make poor decisions, fall into bad habits and crumble under pressure…
