How To Use Public Speaking To Grow Your Fitness Business

If you run a gym, or work as a personal trainer, public hosting seminars and workshops give you an opportunity to teach prospects stuff that they’ve never heard before, and prove your products or services can do what you say they can do through tactful use of case studies.

The very first time I spoke in public, I was sweating, anxious, and worried somebody was going to ask me a question that I couldn’t answer. However, this was an illusion in my mind and it forced me to double down on learning my content.
TREAT PUBLIC SPEAKING AS A PERFORMANCE
Instead of thinking I’m up there to stand and speak for hours on end. I see public speaking as a performance. When you talk about it in that way, it changes your perspective and encourages you to speak with clarity, authenticity and power.

Speaking on stage, on a webinar, or a podcast will automatically connect you and position your content in front of a lot of people at once.
There are certain ways you need to communicate and deliver your content. You can pepper in social proof, which gives you the ability to sell tactfully without sounding salesy or awkward.

One of the best ways to deliver an excellent seminar is to know who you’re speaking to, what problems they have, the outcome they’re after and how you can help them achieve it. I highly recommend doing background research on your audience.
If you don’t know who’s going to be at the event, you won’t know what to talk about and run the risk of boring the audience and walking away empty handed.
There are various different types of seminars you can deliver. You can do set themes, or open question and answer sessions. I personally like to deliver a set theme and incorporate strategic question and answer sessions to cover sales objections. This includes time, price and proof that your products or services work.
The main goal is to educate and inspire your audience so that you become the obvious choice to invest in.
THE PITCH
One of the most important aspects of your seminar is an pitching at the end. While this sounds intimidating, it really isn’t. If you’ve delivered great content and covered all your customers doubts and sales objections – you will have people lining up to do business with you. That’s why you need to give them the opportunity.
If you’re scared to pitch, you’re your customers may think that you’re too busy and not available to work with, when in fact the opposite is true.
